Mobility Aids
Mobility Aids for Seniors and Adults with Reduced Mobility
A mobility aid only works if it fits the user, the home and the typical journey. We supply and fit walking canes, rollators, manual and powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters, and we test each one against the doorways, lift sizes and corridor turns of the specific home.
Aids we work with
- Walking canes and tripod canes — adjusted to the user's hip height and grip.
- Rollators (rolling walkers) — with brakes, a seat for rest stops, and a tray or basket for daily items.
- Manual wheelchairs — standard and lightweight folding frames, with seat-width and footrest sizing.
- Powered wheelchairs — for users who can no longer self-propel safely; we check turning circles inside the home.
- Mobility scooters — for outdoor use, with battery range and lift-clearance considerations.
- Transfer aids — slide boards, transfer belts and lifting devices used together with caregiver training.
Fitting to the home
Before we recommend a wheelchair or scooter, we measure the lift, corridor turns, doorway widths and the path from the main door to the bedroom and bathroom. A scooter that cannot get into the lift, or a wheelchair that cannot turn into the bathroom, is not the right aid for that home.
